A feminine WordPress blog design for one of my favorite bloggers? I’ve been dying to share this brand new project with you!
Oof. Where do I begin? I have been following Erica for what seems like forever. A fellow milspouse, with the most adorable little girls, there’s not way you walk away from her blog not liking Erica. For a very long time, I secretly hoped she would ask me to work with her so when I got the email a few months ago, I honestly could not hold back my excitement! There’s truly nothing better than getting to work with one of my favorite bloggers!
At the beginning of the project Erica told me she wanted her new blog design to be clean, pretty, and fun with shades of pink, white, black, and pops of gold.
Even though I can be a bit of a girly girl, working with pink always scares for some reason – something about going *too* girly with it but I truly love how this all came together! It is girly but also sophisticated and just looking at it, reminds me of Erica.
The Blog Design
After nailing down the moodboard, we got started on the blog design. As I was looking through Erica’s design homework one thing became very apparent – this girl had done her homework and I loved her for it. She knew exactly what she wanted but still gave me enough creative liberty to have fun with it.
When I write these posts I always have at least one favorite feature to highlight but I honestly have a list of them for this project!
Gradient Background | No run of the mill flat background here – it’s a gradient! It starts dark pink up at the top and ends in white at the footer (a featured I loved so much, I replicated it here on my own site!)
Fixed Bar | I loved how the fixed top bar + menu came together in Erica’s blog. It allows her to display an ad in a prominent position and waste no space including a menu, social media buttons, and a on-demand pop-up for her newsletter!
Featured Post | One thing Erica really wanted was to highlighted the latest post in a big way. So I added her latest blog post front and center immediately below the header and above all other posts and sidebar. I love how different this looks from other blogs!
This is honestly one of my favorite blog design projects I’ve ever done and to top off such a great project, here’s what Erica had to say:
Not only do I absolutely love my new blog design, but I am so satisfied with how easy this process was from start to finish. […] I never felt like I was asking too much or being a pest (even though I did change my mind on a few things several times!) I am overall extremely satisfied with using Fran as my web designer and would highly recommend her to anyone I know that’s looking for a new blog design!
Be sure to check out Erica’s blog and let me know what you think!
