Hello, hello! I cannot believe its March already. I find myself saying this more and more as I get older but man! Time really does fly!
Phew. Life has been all sorts of crazy these last two months.
January was jammed packed of action with Joey’s 2nd birthday, a visit from my father in law, and Ben’s birth. My brain is honestly still trying to process that whole month.
Lance left on TDY the first weekend of February which means I’ve been doing the whole single parent thing and let me tell you, this is not for the weak. I even have my mom to help here and there and I’m still beat at the end of the day.
But this month has really been all about getting ready for our upcoming PCS. We did the EFMP (medical clearing) thing for whole family back in December but I had to get Ben cleared this month. We had heard they might make us wait a period of up to 6 weeks after his birth but when we went in December they told us to take him as soon as he was done with his 2-week well baby check up.
This meant he was on the orders before his 1-month and we could get him his passport and finalize our tickets. Also known as the day I stole a dog spot in the plane to Germany. They only allow 10 dogs to be on the plane from the US to Germany, when Lance made the reservations he swore he asked for 2 dog spots. However, when I got there to finalize the reservation and get our port of call papers, they only had us down for 1 dog spot. Cue panic. The travel office man then looked to see if there were any spots. By pure chance someone had cancelled a dog spot reservation and the conversation went something like this –
Him: Hmmm… why is there an extra spot? … … I don’t care. I’m stealing it. You don’t care do you?
Me: Well, I need two dog spots.
Him: Okay we’re stealing it. Let’s steal it. There. It’s yours.
Now it could’ve been that someone decided to fly on a different date altogether but if they had to cancel their reservations for other reasons like updating something or other – sorry not sorry! Our dogs are coming with us ?
I’ve also started the PCS purge as the movers come to get our unaccompanied baggage in 2 weeks. I honestly cannot believe how fast this move is coming up. I finally gave into the whole process and started a PCS binder which is currently keeping my sanity – I’m adding everything from copies of our orders, dog records, car titles, etc!
Milspouse friends – do you have any PCS tips for me? Anything I should absolutely have on my binder?
