Eeep! Somehow it’s been 2 whole years since Joey joined our family! I really cannot believe he’s a full 2 years old. Some days I look at him and can’t help but wonder how and when he got so big.
In honor of his 2nd birthday, I thought I’d do one of those fun (at least for me! haha) little updates I used to do every month for him!
Likes: He loves “vroom vrooms”, aka trucks. He’s kiiind of obsessed with trucks right now. Every time one shows up on TV or drives by, he’ll point and say (sometimes scream) “vroom vroom!”.
Throughout the year, his favorite movie was Zootopia. To be fair, he didn’t really have much movie experience but this one really got him. He’d bring us some of his books with pictures of bunnies or foxes and point to the TV asking to watching, back before he talked. Currently, he loves watching Cars and The Secret Life of Pets (or “dogggiiies” as he calls it).
He eats really well also! He loves apples, bananas, grapes, potatoes in any shape or form, bacon, toast, chips, lettuce, tomatoes, rice, noodles, spaghetti, I could go on and on. We’ve really lucked out with this guy – there’s very few things he won’t eat.
He also loves being outside. Playing with (chasing) Pudge and Panda in the backyard was a favorite activity during summer time, as was going to the splash park. Walks are a highlight and will ask for them as long as it’s not too cold.
Dislikes: Still not a fan of eggs. We’ve tried multiple times and it just does not happen. Recently he has developed a dislike for naps but you best believe I’m doing everything I can to change this haha
Milestones: Talking was definitely the big milestone this year. He had walking + running down before his first birthday but man, oh man, that talking. I was a little nervous we weren’t going to hit this milestone by his 2nd birthday but in the last couple of months his vocabulary has exploded. He’s well over 50 words and has a handful of phrases down. His favorite? My little El Pasoan, will announce “Outside… it cold” to anyone and everyone as soon as it gets below 70 degrees. (Read: He’ll be in a world of trouble next winter when we’re somewhere that actually gets cold with snow and everything haha)
Weight/Height: He is 2’10 and tipped the scale at 25.4 lbs. This puts him over the 50% for height and riiiight at 19% for weight. Aka, he’s built like his father and his father before him.
Sleep: Naps are hit or miss these days, mostly miss *insert crying emoji*. However, he sleeps a solid 11-12 hours at night almost completely uninterrupted unless there’s a cold or new tooth lurking by so I can’t complain too much.
Random Tidbits: His newest thing is grabbing you by the hand and taking you to where he wants or to show you what he wants. In some ways this is super nice when compared to having to guess but also a little annoying when you’re sitting there relaxing and he wants to try and con you into giving him more Cheez Its before dinner haha.
He still very much loves Pudge and Panda. Panda is definitely still his closer ally between the two but I think this has to do a lot with Pudge just not having as much patience as Panda. That being said, little dude has no issues telling them “Nooooo” and “Ge Down” when they get up in his business.
For his birthday, we did a little Construction birthday party. I call it party but it was just Joey, me, Lance, and my mom haha. But I am a crazy mom and still wanted to decorate and make a fun cake. I got the cake idea from Pinterest and honestly did not think it’d turned out but I’m sooo happy with how it turned out!
And since I can’t help myself, I’m including the Construction Birthday Banner printable for you all! Just downloaded it below and enjoy!
