Have you seen the new Pinterest feature, Pinterest Showcase?
Last Wednesday (Nov 30) Pinterest introduced a new featured called Pinterest Showcase. It is available for all business accounts and I’ll be honest, I kind of love it.
What is Pinterest Showcase?
The short and sweet? It’s a slideshow of your handpicked boards. If you are running buyable pins Showcase will automatically show your “Shop” board first.
You can choose up to 5 boards for your Showcase and change them as often as you’d like. Last but definitely not least, Showcase sits right at the top of your profile. Right between your profile info and all your boards so it’s the first thing people see.
Making the most out of it
First and foremost, you need to add to Showcase the boards that showcase (see what I did there?) your own content. If you don’t already have one, make sure you have at least one board with just your content. This board should be the first one on your profile and the first board on your Showcase.
If you have any offers, whether a product or service, you’ll want to highlight that in Showcase. For example, I am a blog designer and have board with only pins of my designs. Currently I’m booked out until my maternity leave next year. However, if I was trying to land new clients, I’d put this board first before my blog content boards.
Lastly, you should add boards that round up your blog’s brand. Meaning, add boards with related content that will provide followers with ideas and inspiration. Additionally, keep in mind the current season. Right now it’s Christmas time so be sure to add related boards with holiday content.
For example Kory, a fellow designer, has her Blog board first, followed by her “Grow your email” board which makes sense for her brand as she has a Newsletter Course. Next she has her own designs board and last but not least to round up her showcase she also has a branding board.
tl;dr – Put your content first and use Showcase to tell your blog’s story. And have fun with it! Remember you can change the boards displayed on your Showcase as often as you want. So play with it and brainstorm ideas to use it to your advantage!

Other New Features + Updates
A big change they’ve made is removing the “Liked” pins from profiles. You can see your liked pins from your profiles but other people won’t see this tab and therefore won’t see your liked pins. For a split second I thought this was odd but then I realized I have never checked another pinner’s likes and I use them only as a way to save pins I want to check out further before pinning. I’m guessing Pinterest saw data similar to this across the board and decided to hide them.
They’va additionally made changes to make things more consistent across devices. Before things look somewhat different on the web vs. phones. But no more!
The biggest thing (besides Showcase) is that Pinterest has finally brought back board order on mobile. For a while when using the app, pinners would see your boards by most recent or alphabetical instead of the order set on desktop. However this latest change has brough back “Same as Web” but it’s not that way by default. If you’d like to have fellow pinners see your boards in the same order as web, on the app go to your profile, click on the gear icon on the right top corner, tap “Edit Profile”, scroll all the way to the bottom and change the toggle “Sort boards” to “Same as Web”.
Have you played around with Showcase? What are your thoughts?
