Likes: Bath time continues to be a favorite around here. He also absolutely loves playing peek-a-boo, specially with cousin Sammy. Pudge and Panda are his favorite ever – so much hair to pull! (let’s just say we have some very patient dogs haha).
Dislikes: He seriously dislikes the cold. We spend the holidays in Spokane, WA with Lance’s family – so much snow, which I loved, however, Joey was not fan haha.
Milestones: First visit to Spokane – his dad’s stomping grounds, if you will. He, more or less, met the remaining family – most importantly Grandma Rae and Grampa Rae, cousin Taylor and got better acquainted with some of the family he met in the last trip. Joey had his first Christmas and first birthday – and let just said, he was a BIG fan of whole ‘smashing into the birthday cake’ thing. Looking back I’ve realized I didn’t take a lot of pictures Christmas Day – I was way busier watching him than behind my phone, and I think that’s a goos thing. On the “sad” side of things / milestones, he had his first big-ish injury. He fell and hit his lip right on the corner of an ottoman biting into his lower lip – one hour of crying and lots of blood later, my mama heart was finally back to normal but it was a rough day, y’all!
Weight/Height: Tall and skinny – with a little of a pouch belly! What can I said, the holidays just got to him haha. We won’t know his exact height and weight until his one year check up, which had to be delayed since we’ve been in Washington.
Sleep: It’s been a little rough with the trip to Spokane, change of timezones and overall unfamiliar surroundings. His naps are A LOT shorter these days but he’s sleeping preeetty much to the night. I’m hoping we can get back into a good napping schedule once we’re back home later this week but I fear he might be weaning himself out of that long afternoon nap. Welp.
Random Tidbits: I’m in major disbelief at just how big Joey is. He’s a seriously smart little guy who can figure out how to do something in no time at all, show him a time or two and he’ll pick it right up. At a young 12 months he can already said he’s been to 8 states (what the what!) and he’s currently obsessed with opening and closing drawers and cabinets and with getting just about everything out of said drawers and cabinets (heeeeelloooo baby proofing!). Last but not least, this month he got to meet The Big Guy in Red, aka Santa – that went as predicted. He cried his head off. No pictures have made it on social media but let’s just say we acquired some good laughing material for later on in life.
I’ve said once and I’ll say it again – I cannot believe this little guy is one year old. The day of his birth feels just like yesterday, yet I can already sense those foggy corners closing in that indicate time passing by. I’ll stop doing monthly updates (not that I was very good keeping up with them the last few months – yikes) but I’ll still be some day to day stuff on Facebook – or if we’re friends on Facebook, that’s were the grand majority of Joey updates will happen from now on!
