Rejoice blogging world! THE BOOK CHAT IS BACK! Jessica tagged me a tweet asking if we’d want Book Chat back and I’m like “GIRL. How is this even a question?” So let’s party like rockstars and chat about books every Thursday, yes? Good.
This week’s topic? Currently Reading.
When I first saw the prompt for today’s post, all I could think “Aw, shit”. You see, last year I didn’t only meet my reading goal, I surpassed it. This year? I’ll be lucky to read 1/4 of the books I read last year. (aka, I was waaaay optimistic when I set this year’s goal to the same as last year. HELLO. Babies take up ALL the time). But digress.
The issue? Why such bad thoughts when I saw the prompt?
I had been reading this same book for 5 weeks. 5 weeks! The book was The Good Girl. I had heard a lot about it towards the end of the year last year, it was nominated for one of the GoodReads awards so I looked it up. The description definitely peeked my interest – suspense! drama! the mystery of it all! But still, 5 weeks, same book. Part of the issue was that the middle was kind of boring and repetitive? But! I finished it on Monday. Phew. It got kind of predictable and I was a little disappointed in it. But hey! I finished it.
And now! I’m reading Station Eleven. I’ve heard great things about it, so far I really like it so I’m hoping it holds up and I finish it in less than 5 weeks – because today I check my reading challenge and I’m 5 books behind. Yikes.
Have you read either of these books? Thoughts?
